We need all inside component dimensions. For the PCB, We need it on the STEP file (3D CAD file) because that file contains all information We need and is 100% accurate with the PCB design. If you don’t have that file, please get in touch with your PCB designer. They can make it.
Here is the sample for the STEP file. Download
If you have a ready-made PCB (brought from the market), you can find 3D CAD (.Step) files on these websites: Ex:- Raspberry Pi, Arduino ...
We need to know which components do you want to access for the outside. So, you have to mark on the PCB (photo) those ports.
Red marked components only need to access from outside
We need to know inside how you are expecting to place components. So, you have to show it like this. (pencil sketch also enough).
We need to see your expecting shape of the enclosure. So, you can explain it with Pencil sketches or Reference photos from the internet.
There have lots of manufacturing processes. The manufacturing type will be depending on your budget and Quantity. Here are some of the productions type for the enclosures. If you need more details please click here
Types of manufacturing: -
Injection mold manufacturing.
3D printing.
Thermoforming mold.
Casting mold. (Sand, Metal, Concrete).
Urethane casting mold.
Sheet metal.
We need to know which type of fitting you want to use to fit the inside component and covers. There have lots of fitting types. Here are some of the types.
Screw fitting.
Glue.
Snap fitting.
Tight-fitting.
Clip fitting.
See these fitting types and tell me which one you want to use separately for the covers and components.
We need to know the IP rating. Please see the chart and decide the IP rate.
Note: - Only injection mold can do IP67 & IP68
